An important distinction

IgE testing is used to investigate immediate-type allergic reactions. A positive IgE result indicates sensitisation and does not, by itself, prove that a particular food is causing someone's symptoms. MTHFR is one of the genes involved in folate metabolism. Common MTHFR variants include C677T and A1298C. NutriPATH offers both MTHFR testing and broader methylation-related testing.

MTHFR testing uses a DNA sample, which can be obtained through blood or a buccal (cheek) swab, to identify particular genetic variants.
